Nigerian Union of Journalists, Abuja Council hosts Senator Rochas Okorocha to celebrate his 59th birthday at the Union’s Secretariat, on Monday 20th September, 2021.
In commencement, the Chairman of the council, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche honoured the former Imo State Governor with special award of “icon of service and philanthropy” for his impactful service to humanity over the decades.
The panel of discussion hosted a conversation that presented burning issues to clear misconceptions of his journey so far.
Issues of becoming the Nigeria’ President in future, the ban on open grazing, the case of Nnamdi Kalu, women in politics, his case with his successor, amongst others were discussed.
There were tributes from guests to the Senator and former governor on how he took care of them over the years and trained their children. He (the Senator) was delighted and said this is what keeps him going and that he must continue.
The Senator thanked the union and Chairman for finding him worthy of the honour, while the Secretary thanked guests for supporting the event that hosted a man who has lives an exemplary lifestyle.
The event was well attended by Government Officials, Journalists, friends and well wishes.
It was indeed a good and memorable moment with the Senator.
