You have become our greatest mentor and partner in fostering healthy ideas through the annual Chief Richard Lamai Prize for Public Speaking for young Nigerian students.
On behalf of the Authors-in-School Creative Club, my co-founder, and other advisors, I wish to congratulate our dear advisor, Chief Richard Lamai, on your appointment as a member of the prestigious Auchi Polytechnic governing council. We are confident that this appointment will scale up the much-needed accelerated progress in vocational and technical education, given your tremendous impact through the Club on students in various tertiary institutions in both Nigeria and overseas.
Some years ago, Chief Richard Lamai was approached by the Club. After presenting our dreams and aspirations for Nigerian students, he quickly accepted our request to become part of the dream. Since then, the Club has grown from strength to strength with his active involvement and sponsorship, not only of the annual Chief Lamai Prize for Public Speaking but also of other seasonal events like the annual convention, annual school tour, and the establishment of mini-libraries in secondary schools. This has distinguished him as a mentor who can be trusted with greater responsibilities.
Chief Lamai has helped members of the Club evolve into better versions of themselves. During conventions, his presentations have made a remarkable impact on their lives. His level of engagement, endearing disposition, and commitment to our cause are rare qualities possessed by few leaders.
Beyond his qualities displayed in the Club over the years, Lamai is prudent in his judgment, admired by many, and a highly likable creative Nigerian with a warm aura that makes those around him feel comfortable and at ease. Those meeting him for the first time often recount his loving personality and how he brings out the best in them. Club members always look forward to his presence at national conventions, and the advisor members are delighted to benefit from his wealth of experience.
Lamai is a man worth sharing values and beliefs with: he will help you build strong confidence, an unwavering personality, and ensure lasting friendships. He has a great ability to share common values with friends, life goals with associates, and a strong emotional connection with his peers. He has never given a single reason to doubt his strength, attracting people to his mentorship. He is creative and intelligent. During creative brainstorms where themes are being drafted to make a societal impact, Lamai will singlehandedly guide us through, edit content, and oversee some of the paperwork.
Relationships are about give and take. Lamai has assisted young graduates and those with excellent character at various levels, placing them in appropriate positions. He has taken the Club to an enviable level and sees us as mentees he can rely on in building new bridges. We are elated to have a mentor like him. We respect him greatly, and he holds an important place in our lives.
His effective communication skills as a politician have given him an unbeatable edge. As the saying goes, communication is key. He has also used this skill to attain several enviable leadership positions both at home and abroad.
On several occasions, we have watched him treat other people with dignity and recognize their values, showing deep admiration for their uniqueness. This characteristic gives him a profound connection to life.
Lamai is genuinely generous; he spends his time with people, his money on good causes, and his love for humanity. His humorous way of doing things when with friends is endearing and distinguishes him from others. His honesty has built trust between him and others. He is highly protective of the vulnerable.
He has used trust to define relationships. He is a man everyone wants to rely on. He empathizes with others, making them feel a sense of belonging, trust, and faith. This virtue has helped him connect deeply with great and like-minded individuals.
