April 23 is set aside to celebrate world book and copyright day where authors around the globe synergize on the place of the book in the society.
In joining other authors, the author of the book, Udukh: the Surrogate Daughter, Lois Otse Adams, distributed books to some female parishioners at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Afokpella in Etsako East of Edo State.
Having briefed the Priest, Father Reginald Adogamhe on her drive in partnering with government agency, individuals and private organizations to curbing human trafficking in Nigeria, the books were delivered by Maj. Matti Abdul (Rtd).
The author is determined to reach out to more female Nigerians and to mentor them to become anti-human trafficking ambassadors.
Having also revealed that Afokpella is one of the scenes used in the book, she promised to visit other scenes used like Ewohimi, Uluoke, Auchi, South-ibie and Oredo all in Edo State to educate and enligten girl child about the dangers of human trafficking.
The Priest, who also doubles as the co-ordinator of the Family and Human Life Apostolate in the Catholic Diocese of AUCHI, is currently working on plans with the author to take the campaign to secondary schools in the area. This campaign will sensitize the youths, especially the young girls on the ills and dangers of human trafficking, illegal migration and forced labour.
“The process of distribution is sponsored by individuals, public and private organizations. I appeal to more Nigerians to support campaigns” she said.
