As the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria and the aftermath effect come to a close, many students are feeling disappointed with the outcome. The election period may have been fraught with tension and uncertainty, and the results may not have met your expectations. However, it is important to remember that despite the challenges, there is still hope for a brighter future. Instead of protesting and letting negative emotions take over, it is crucial to remain positive and trust that the newly elected president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will steer the nation in the right direction.
It is natural to feel disappointment after the election results are announced, especially when you had high hopes for a particular candidate or party. However, it is essential to keep in mind that Nigeria is bigger than any single election or candidate. It is a country full of diverse people with different perspectives and opinions. Therefore, it is crucial to remain positive, look towards the future and focus on finding solutions to the problems facing the nation.
One of the essential steps in moving forward after the election is to avoid engaging in protests. Protests and violent demonstrations will only worsen the situation, causing chaos and destabilizing the nation. Instead, students can channel their energy towards positive actions such as volunteering, community development, and advocating for change through constructive dialogue and peaceful means.
Furthermore, it is essential to hope for the best for the newly elected president. Bola Tinubu’s tenure may have begun with controversy and allegations, but as citizens, it is essential to give him a chance to lead and make the necessary changes that Nigeria needs. He may have his shortcomings, but with the right guidance and support, he can turn out to be a great leader. Therefore, it is paramount to pray for him and trust God to grant him the wisdom to navigate Nigeria’s complex challenges.
As the popular saying goes, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” In other words, instead of dwelling on the disappointments of the past, it is important to focus on the present and future. Students can use this period to become more politically engaged and informed, learning about the issues facing Nigeria and how they can contribute to making positive changes.
