It is another 365 days today, 9th February, 2021 added to the life of an illustrious Son of Ekiti state, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi; a man every quarter in the Country recognizes his intelligence when it comes to giving efforts to good causes, smart when it comes to governance, and strategic when it comes to developmental collaborations.
A man who has also distinguished himself from his contemporaries, following his engagements before he ventured into partisan politics and this has led him through the success ladder to become Governor of Ekiti state, Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and currently Governor of Ekiti state for the second time, thereby bringing civility and thoroughness into governance.
Dr. John Kayode Fayemi established the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) which encourages intellectual dimensions into the struggle for Nigeria’s democracy, and this has promoted a culture of sustainable engagement with the citizens, and established a system of documentation in the human right community.
During his days of activism, Fayemi built men who are today doing excellently well with landmark achievements in their various endeavours. He developed characters that have distinguished themselves globally, and reshaped the future of many who worked with or encountered him.
Apart from the fact that he was loved and admired by young vibrant men and women during his days of activism, his current leadership and political role played in the entire Nigerian polity has also made him a unique figure from amongst his contemporaries who crave to identify with him, especially when it comes to strategic planning before, during, and after elections, the Son of the land of honour and integrity has never missed in his strategic point.
Chief Taiwo Akerele is the former Chief of Staff to Edo state, an intellectual lead of the Policy House and Author of Sage of Growth, (a book Fayemi recommends through his forward). Taiwo, a dedicated ally of intellectuals, has a tradition in keeping a strong relationship with inteligent elders and achievers of good causes and paying homage to them to discuss burning national issues and to set the path forward. He has done this regardless of clime, status, tribe, state etc, out of his obvious desires to see things work in Nigeria.
Today, as the master of letters and a man of inestimable value, Dr. Fayemi celebrates his birthday therefore, another junior master, Taiwo Akerele congratulates him and celebrate his lingered ingenuity, and pray God Almighty to bless him with long life and continue to strenghten him to chart the cause of good governance in Nigeria.
Happy Birthday Sir.
