WINNERS OF THE CHIEF RICHARD LAMAI ESSAY CONTEST CRAVE FOR MORE WINS

The landmark achievements made so far by igniting the creative potentials in young adults and children have been famous enough to be reckoned with.

Authors in School Creative Club, a subsidiary of Udukhotse Foundation partners both individuals and organizations to nurture young minds and students in creativity. It has been a connecting factor and a smooth bridge between the principled elites and young people willing to explore great potentials in various aspects of life.

Members of the immediate Community where the club was first established have deemed it fit to invest heavily in championing the cause of making distinctive leaders amongst the next generations. 

One of such patriotic nigerians is Chief Richard Lamai who doubles as the Pioneer Advisor of the Club, an illustrious Son of Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo state.

Lamai has distinguished himself from his contemporaries in the past three decades of his impact-filled service to humanity. Apart from the 2020 contest, he had invested knowledge, morals and prayers in members of the club by his presence in several literary meetings, seminars and conventions.

While others defined the year 2020 as a very  tough year, members of the club have enjoyed tremendous wealth of experience of the Founders, Advisors, and top Executives, and they have progressive reason to hope for better things in the next years to come.

The 2020 edition of Chief Richard Lamai Essay Contest for both national level and secondary school chapters categories, which had attracted members nationwide to the club commenced on 1st November, and closed on 10th December, 2020, while the  announcement of winners was done on  20th December, with  prizes redeemed on 31st of December to mark the new year for winners.

The  National Level theme was “Youth Arise: Rediscovering the Nigeria of Our Dream”  with not less than 1,000 words. Overall Winner went home with a cash prize of N50,000 while the first and second runners-up went home with N30,000 and N15,000 respectively. 

The theme of the secondary school category was ‘If I were governor for a year’, with not less than 450 words. In this category, no winner emerged, and the N30,000 cash prize is being reserved  in the Trust Fund for subsequent editions, while the 1st and 2nd runners-up went home with N15,000 and N10,000 respectively.

The winners emerged from these schools, Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, producing Civil Engineering student; Edo University, Iyamho-Uzairue, producing Accounting student; Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma producing Law student; others from Secondary category are Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, Agenebode and Sacred Heart College, Agenebode, all from Edo State.

The committee was headed by Comrade Chris’ Oboh, one of the Advisors, wherein prizes have been redeemed, and  letters/Certificates sent to winners and the various institutions who fielded students in the event.

In their appreciation therefore, winners with letters promised to continue doing the club, families, sponsors and society proud in subsequent contests and even beyond the club.

The exercise that was conducted under strict principles, also gave room to other participants to receive consolation prizes.
