Italo Calvino, an Italian writer and journalist once penned thus; “The ultimate meaning to which all stories refer has two faces: the continuity of life and the inevitability of death.”

The Udukhotse Foundation and Authors-in-School Creative Club mourn the late High Chief Dr. Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, whose unfortunate demise took place on May 29th, 2023.

Dr. Lois Otse Adams, founder of the Uduakhotse Foundation and Co-founder of AIS Creative Club could not hold back tears as she pens her tribute to a great man who she has come to know as a mentor and father.

“The loss came at a time when the country needs the exceptional qualities of a refined journalist and politician who has become a mentor to many across the country. To the family, the media profession, the Afenmai Community, Nigeria, and the global community, this is a great and irreparable loss.” she opined.

A renowned and refined journalist and politician, Chief Dokpesi was a man of exemplary humility and leadership, who touched many lives within and beyond the Afenmai community. His qualities and supportive nature inspired the establishment of the Authors-in-School Creative Club five (5) years ago. He provided the club with access to AIT Kakaki and other platforms to promote the Udukhotse Foundation programs on various occasions.

Quoting the words of the former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, “When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and country, he can rest in peace.”

The management of the Udukhotse Foundation and the Creative Club is reassured that the late chief left as an accomplished icon, great leader, and a remarkable achiever whose legacy will stand the test of time. His integrity as an objective journalist, loyalty as a worthy comrade and exemplary style of leadership as a politician throughout his lifetime have written indelible footprints on the sands of time.

“We sincerely sympathize with his immediate family and the DAAR Communications family for this irreparable loss. His role as the head of the family, a loving and caring father, and an astute community leader cannot be overstated. We believe that God will fill the significant void left by his demise, grant hope to all, and provide comfort to the members of the Edo state community.” She further stated.
