The National Coordinator, Open Government Partnership (OGP), Dr. Gloria Ahmad, is soliciting the support of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to ensure the success of its National Action Plan (NAP III).
She paid an advocacy visit to the ICPC headquarters to further update the commission on the journey so far on the NAP III draft.
The purpose of the Meeting was to deliberate on the achievements of NAP II and to introduce NAP III which commences in January 2023.
In her opening remarks, Ahmed explained the core objectives of OGP – Transparency, Citizens Participation, Inclusion, and Diversity among several others, and the future of OGP in the implementation of NAP III.

While explaining that the visit was crucial, she said the ICPC falls under the Fiscal Transparency Thematic area of the programme.
“We are paying our visits to MDAs and your agency falls under the Fiscal Transparency Thematic area, specifically on documents (3) and (9) in the NAP,” she said, adding that the agency’s website would be communicated to the commission for further action.
Speaking on behalf of Prof. Bolaji Olufunmileyi Owasanoye, SAN, the Chairman of the ICPC, the Secretary of the Commission, Usman Abubakar, acknowledged the importance of the OGP in nation-building and the commitment the commission had undertaken.
“It is an initiative that the commission had long keyed into,” he said. “In 2018, we had a trip with the Special Adviser to the president on OGP where the stakeholders had a robust experience on Open Procurement System where everything is done online.”
He assured of the ICPC’s future collaboration as it heightens its fight against corruption in Nigeria.
“The commission will do all that is within its capacity to support the OGP initiatives,” the ICPC Chairman said.
