The winner of the maiden edition of the Dakinda Penalty Game, Dan Sabe, has revealed how he had been given quit notice by his landlord over his long overdue rent.
“My landlord gave me quite notice this week, I was here on the first phase of the draw, I came for the second phase with the hope I will win, I was not even thinking of winning N500, 000. I only bought tickets of 10,000 and I emerged one of the winners of the second prize,” an emotional Dan Sabe said.
Another winner, Mayowa, could not contain his excitement. According to him, “so this thing is real, in this present society? I hail the regulators and promoters of this scheme, apart from the N50,000 alert, I won lots of other prizes online I am going to claim soon.”
On his part, another winner stated: “I like the transparency in the game. I will keep playing until I win the mega cash prize of N1 million.”
To Jude, who also won in the raffle draw, “I am very happy, I did not even dream of getting the money but I prayed and God has answered me. I will not stop, I shall continue to play the game.”
Some of the winners also confessed that they have not paid their children’s school fees, while some were happy receiving physical cash in different categories.
Barnabas, one of the winners in the N100,000 category screamed on phone, “Dakinda is real, true, original and the promoters kept their promise.”
Speaking at the Old Parade Ground, venue of the raffle draw on February 25 and March 1, 2017, respectively, the chairman of Dakinda Penalty Game, Mr. Emmanuel Akpakwu told winners that in less than 30 days they would be performing another raffle draw.
He expressed his gratitude to those who believed in the game even when it looked abstract, while assuring that he will continue to work with the regulator to stem the tide of fraud and shady practices in the country’s lottery sector.
The representative of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Ms. Lois Adams told the those who did not win that lottery is a win-win game, therefore they should not be discouraged.
She said lottery proceeds are used as part of national development through the National Lottery Trust Fund for good causes such as the Kanu Nwakwo Heart Foundation, Sickle Cell Organisation and many others.
The Dakinda raffle draw was monitored by the representatives of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.
To ensure transparency, the process was streamed live on the social media, while winners got their winning alert on their mobile phones immediately.
