The young Dollar Music CEO, music producer and song maestro by name COS-KENNY Osigbemhe popularly called ‘Kendollar’ his stage name has carved a niche for himself in the entertainment and music industry to be more specific. At an early age of 16 he began to storm different stages, thrilling thousands of audience and even older artists with his mostly R & B hit songs.
The multi-talented young artist has released quite a number of singles which has always made his fans always want more like the proverbial Oliver Twist; in his interview session with the lead Editor of Stars and Styles magazine, he spoke immensely on what inspired him into music and production, his love for various genres, his role model, his relationship with the artists he has signed under his label, his education and many more.
Excerpts:
What inspired you into music and production at the early age of 16?
What inspired me most in music and production is the fact that I listen to beautiful and lovely beats.
So I can say good beats trigger me to do good music, that is my inspiration.
What type of music(s) are you into?
I can do all genres of music apart from the trap music and all that (laughs) but you know, we African Artists specialize mainly on Highlife, Afrobeat, Afropop, R&B and a little bit of Rock music, I love rock music too.
You seem to have a label, how do you intend building your relationship with your artists?
“Subsequently, when I was about going into music, it has been my biggest dream to own a brand (Label). Since I was bringing a very different style of music where I can work with more intelligent and creative people out there because, I put myself as this person who goes for whatever he wants, so the kind of relationship I have started building with my artists is goal aiming, we work together as family, have fun together and also make money together. That is the business”.
How many albums have you released to the public, and how has the ovation been?
I have not released any Album yet, just have some couple of singles and they are all going well on various music platforms, the likes of Apple Music and Audiomack, the streams-downloads are awesome, it is a blessing people that appreciate my sound.
-Achieve My Goal
-No Lie (Mimi)
-Americana
– Leave You Run
– Obianuju
-Pyrate, which I was featured by my Signee.
-Ain’t Gat No Friend
So these Seven (7) Songs are the major songs released in Dollar Music Entertainment (DME) from year 2017 till date.
But there is an EP (album) coming up this year entitled,
‘A GOOD BEGINNING’ and it is going to be a bomb.
*Who is your role model?
My Dad, Constance Boliviia Osigbemhe is my role model in Music, Disciplined towards work, Calmness in composition and Confidence in his presentation. He has all it takes to be someone’s role model and he has been a strong force behind my strength.
You are presently an undergraduate, studying Civil Engineering, how do you cope with the tasks of combining music and academics?
I love education and I have put education as my first priority in life before music. I stopped going to the Studio and cancelled stage performances when it was getting closer to my test and examination periods. And most times, when I have the chance to record I record like 4 songs in a day. There is an adage that says “there is time for everything” when it comes to studies I study and when it comes to music I do it. I am musically active during holidays, I cope very well with it.
What advise do you have for your contemporaries in the entertainment industry?
A good music has to do with good content, good delivery and lovely beats.
Stay glued to your passion.
