I shall refrain from poetic expressions, but I would like to share my personal reflection on how Achebe left an indelible mark on my life, inspiring me to strive for greatness in the realm of creativity.
My esteemed father, Dr. Omokhogie Adamu, was an exceptionally talented writer who devoted himself to his craft until his final days on this earth. During my time in secondary school, having already immersed myself in Achebe’s literary works, I often found it difficult to distinguish between my father and Achebe, for their words and wisdom seemed intertwined.

Upon gaining admission to a tertiary institution to pursue my studies in Mass Communication, I was advised to specialize in broadcast media but due to my unwavering passion for Achebe and my father however, I made a conscious decision to pursue the print option, as it would afford me the opportunity to write in a manner reminiscent of both Achebe and my father.

I have been privileged to align myself with the Association and have assumed various positions. During his lifetime, my father held the esteemed status of being the oldest member of the Abuja Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA). Today, we gather here to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of a mentor, Prof. Chinua Achebe, who played a pivotal role in shaping me towards greatness.
By character and passion, I am a daughter of Achebe and my father.
