The Honorary President of the Chadian Women Union in Nigeria, Chahaimi Achta Togoi has said that women political participation should be taken seriously, as she emphasized that Chadian women should be fully involved in every phase of political advancement.
Togoi who said this on the occasion of the Chadian Women’s Week which held on the International Women’s Day, March 8th 2022, in Abuja, further maintained that the Union’s values are based on sisterhood and solidarity which goes directly in line with the perspective of the inclusive dialogue which is underway in Chad.
She prayed for equal opportunity for both men and women in the country.
“Our union based its values on peace, sisterhood and solidarity which come directly in line with the perspectives of the inclusive national dialogue under way in our country. This dialogue aims at rebuilding a new Chad of peace, unity, justice, social cohesion and equal opportunity for all, a country we are all yearning for, may God Almighty fulfill our prayers. The opportunity given to me today is also most specially to affirm without any fear of contradiction that our union is geared towards a change of mentality in our community and better organization among Chadian women, as we are living far away from home.”
“The work before us is great but nothing is insurmountable because we, women have decided to carry an ideal which is that of peace and unity. The Theme: ‘CHADIAN WOMAN IN THE HEART OF THE TRANSITION: CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES’ clearly emphasizes the political commitments carried by the highest authorities of the transition with regards to the involvement of women, through the transitional process”. She added.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of Chad to Nigeria, His Excellency, Abakar Saleh Chahaimi ceased the opportunity to express gratitude to the Nigerian government for Her receptiveness towards Chadian women and Chadians generally in Nigeria, as he termed Nigeria ‘home away from home’.
He further added that so far, the diplomatic relations between Chad and Nigeria have been excellent. “The relationship between Nigeria and Chad is excellent, I can barely reserve any doubt of contradiction. This is an opportunity to thank the Federal Government of Nigeria for always endeavoring to make things easier for Chadians. This is our second home, for Chadians; this is home away from home”.
