Dr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu
…Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu visits the Queen Mother of Uromi as LG Campaigns kicks-off
By Lois Adams
The peak of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaigns is finally here, having done the mega flag-off which attracted people from all walks of life to the event last Saturday, at the University of Benin Sports Arena, Benin City, where over a dozen number of state Governors, the Vice- President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Ministers, members of the House of Representatives, the red chambers and very important Guests were present.
The event was well coordinated and peaceful as the SIMPLE AGENDA gained prominence. This again has shown that the efforts of the Impact Initiative in waging war against internal violence, and other anti-social behaviours is being embraced by especially the youths and strong supporters of the party.
The state local government Campaigns kicks-off today, 10th August, 2020. And using the state APC flag-off as a yardstick therefore, there is no doubt that subsequent sessions and rallies will be peaceful and well coordinated, and this is because the pace is set and running smoothly.
One encouraging aspect that can not be ignored is seeing who is who in the state, both ward and unit levels reactivating their keen interests in politics, reassuring their efforts to work for APC and good Governance, pledging their unwavering support and holding on to their unflinching love for the state, most amongst them have been discouraged and marginalized at some point in time in the past, but are now bonded by the SIMPLE AGENDA.
Prof. (Mrs.) Idia Ize-Iyamu
There is a careful effort to avoid internal bickering, capable of posing a threat to the electoral process, as the young adults and youths across the state are highly coordinated, while some have made irreversible decisions to work tirelessly to ensure that Edo state regains it’s being the heartbeat of our dear Nigeria again.
There is a frantic disposition of individuals, both the elites, middle class, salary earners, artisans etc making financial sacrifices to actualize the dream they believe, the making of Edo state great again.
Women are not left out as they have formed a formidable team with the indefatigable and incoming first lady, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu. They have gone wilder to share themselves in micro teams to cover the state in various capacities before the elections, and this sends a positive signal that no stone will be left unturned, come September 19, 2020.
The good news is that the incoming first lady has not relented as she is working on the twin version of the SIMPLE AGENDA to carry every Edo woman; married, widows, singles, lettered, uneducated, unenlightened and children along.
She acknowledge the fact that there must be gender balance, and this is coming at a time where Edo women have lacked the vital treatment of a first lady for about four years and they are no longer feeling the impact of governance.
Prof. Ize-Iyamu is enlightened to understand what it takes for a woman to lack connection from the first mother, she understands that every woman deserves to be treated well by her government. Only a proactive woman, a woman of vision can cut such vision. It has been a win-win outcome for the candidacies of Dr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Mallam Gani Audu.
As the local government level campaigns kick start in Igueben today therefore, the incoming first lady has mobilized women across the state to accompany her on a royal visit to the Queen mother of Igueben, this is to discuss matters that border and centre around women and to be tackled ahead of the swearing in come November, 2020.
Unit Chairmen are not left out, going by the popular saying that “Charity begins at home” they have taken to the Streets and held series of meetings to sensitize party members on INEC voter’s cards and the power of one vote.
