A reading tour at the Dr. Omokhogie Adamu Library was part of the activities carried out by the Authors-in-School Creative Club during its retreat held in the last three days of December 2021, at Bonjul Hotel and Suites in Edo State.
The reading which was done in memory of the Grand Patron of the Club, Dr. Omokhogie Adamu, whose Annual Competition for Research and Documentation comes up during the first and second month (January-February) of every year, also had his works explored including vintage photos of his early life to remember the good old times and legacy left behind by the late Book Sage.
The event which had all its National Executives present, also had in attendance, the Co-founder of AIS Club, Amb. Lois Otse Adams who with a warm reception, welcomed every member present.
Expressing gratitude to participants, retired Principal and first Son of late Dr. Adamu, Christopher Adamu said he was delighted with the turn up of members, as he praised and appreciated all participants for their dedication and commitment to seeing the club grow by engaging in various activities to commemorate his Father’s memory.
On his part, Vice President of the Club, Dako Fortune swiftly gave some ‘old book’ remarks where he brought the minds of members back to the likes of Garrison Keillor and Lailak Grifty before beginning a reading session which lasted for about One Hour. While others presented poems, every member gave a brief about the book read.
Bringing the meeting to an end, a closing remark/vote of thanks was given by the club’s treasurer, Cos-Lewisa Osigbemhe. And thereafter, pleasantries exchanged as the library gifted members and lent out some books to members present.
