The Executive Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Obomighie, alongside his team, voiced their full support for the author of “Stigma” ahead of the scheduled official presentation on March 30, 2024.
During the visit by Dr. Lois Otse Adams and her team to his office on January 2, 2024, Obomighie pledged his endorsement of the author’s participation in the annual Dele Giwa literary prize while acknowledging her commendable efforts in establishing mini libraries and her impactful work with Edo North school children.
Dr. Adams, in briefing Chairman Obomighie on her recent activities, including the Chief Richard Lamai Prize for Public Speaking, reiterated her commitment to continuing to positively influence young adults. She also pledged to contribute value to the Dele Giwa annual Prize for creativity, citing Giwa as a significant inspiration in her writing career even after his passing. She recalled the profound impact of Giwa’s funeral procession, a moment that sparked her writing journey, especially considering her father’s mentoring relationship with Giwa.
Reflecting on the annual celebration of Giwa’s legacy every 19th October, she emphasized the transfer of Giwa’s life, dreams, and aspirations to the Nigerian populace, including herself.
Adams, who donated 30 creative and inspiring Books to the local government library expressed her gratitude to the Local Government boss for his contributions to education, recognizing the positive impact of his support.
