Edo State Governor, Okpebholo accords election victory to God

The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo has attributed his victory to the grace of God, constant and consistent prayers, and the support of good people of Edo people.

Okpebholo gave the testimony at the swearing-in Thanksgiving Service held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State capital, 13th November 2024.

His Excellency, who urged Nigerians to trust in God alone irrespective of their challenges further narrated the spiritual battle faced before he was declared the winner of the 21st September Edo State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He further gave account of the extent traducers went to dent his image and discredit his effort on both traditional and new media platforms, with derogatory statements while he focused on the word of God and aligned the secret of winning battles.

While His Excellency advised everyone to trust in God alone the only assurance when faced with battles, he expressed his gratitude to men of God who stood in the gap, those who believed that with God all things are possible and those who believed in his strength of leadership for a new Edo state.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, the Governor also disclosed that he did not consult any native doctor or prophet or visit any diviner or shrine to seek help throughout the period electioneering.

The Thanksgiving and worship service had prominent Nigerians across the globe, visitors from all walks of life, politicians, gospel music artists, clergymen and well wishes.
