The Minister of State, Finance, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, in his end-of-year speech, reminisced on the many achievements of the ministry in the implementation of its administrative duties.
He pointed out that the ministry’s key obligations of improving citizens’ participation, preparation and implementation of development plans and project evaluation through transparency in government with Open Government Partnership (OGP) has undergone tremendous change.
The President, Muhammadu Buhari, along with his Vice, Professor Yemi Osibanjo in December 2022 launched the National Monitoring and Evaluation platform EYEMARK.
The launching also came with the introduction of the EYEMARK Mobile App. This Eagle-Eyed project became imperative to give citizens, especially the youth a platform where they can access and monitor projects spread across the country.
EYEMARK ensures that the status of projects and financial appropriation of project works are available and accessed by the public.
Standing on the viability of EYEMARK’s objectives, the minister and Co-Chair, State Actors of OGP appreciated the unwavering efforts of Mr President, the Vice President and every member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
“I am continually inspired by Mr President, the Vice President, the Honorable Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning, and every member of the FEC for their unwavering commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerians through impactful programs and policies,” he said.
The minister also recognised the teaming support from development partners and the review and feedback from private sectors and citizens.
He further reiterated his commitment to providing service in accordance with global best practices to improve the standard of living of every Nigerian.
In his final notes, he challenged all and sundry to remain committed in ensuring developmental deliverables in 2023.
