The government of Germany has signed a two-year bilateral agreement with Nigeria to provide the country technical and financial support for the next two years in five core areas.
The Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba, led the Nigerian delegation to the two-day bilateral meeting with the representatives of the German government, led by the Africa Director at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Christoph Rauh.
During the meeting, which was held on 19th and 20th October 2022 in Berlin, Agba, on behalf of the Federal Government, signed the summary record in which the German government committed the sum of €86.5 million to Nigeria.
The five key areas covered in the agreement are sustainable, economic development, training and employment; climate and energy; transformation of agri-food systems; health, social protection and population policy; and peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
Additional sums of €2 Million for Special Initiative One World – No Hunger (SEWOH) and €10 Million for Special Initiative on Forced Displacement are also planned in 2022.
