Business Growth Consultant and Professional Coach, Stephen Michael, has urged the Federal Government to think sustainable practice when investing in properties, and not allow politics to compromise sustainability.
Michael said this recently in a brief lecture, during the maiden edition of Abuja Luxury, Real Estate Industry Nights and Awards event (ALREINA), held on December 12, 2021, at The Wells Carlton Hotel, Abuja. In his lecture, the coach who made reference to the recent building collapse at Gerrard road, Ikoyi, Lagos, maintained that sustainable development is fundamental to community development,
“As Nigerians, and leaders in our different sectors we must begin to avoid politics that is devoid of sustainability because at the end of the day when we allow politics to compromise sustainability, it is our children and great grand Children, friends or relatives that may become victims of these casualties because someone did not pay attention to the sustainability equation. We must think sustainability while we play politics, build today with tomorrow in mind” he added.
While affirming that shelter remains a primary need for humans, he further condemned the widening shelter gap in Nigeria saying that many Nigerian professionals and entrepreneurs cannot afford to move from rented apartments to their own homes.
On his part, the NUJ President, Chris Isiguzo who was present at the event, highlighted that, owning estates is not just for the wealthy but a necessary step for the average person, as investing in this industry will provide long term benefit to individuals and the community at large.
The event highlighted launch of ALREINA magazine, ‘The Property Industry’ as well as presentation of awards and accolades to professionals in the business for their remarkable achievements and other personalities such as the NUJ president, Chris Isiguzo, Professional Coach, Stephen Michael and project consultant, Lois Adams among other distinguished guests.
