It was an exciting evening at the Association of Nigrian Authors (ANA) monthly guest author’s session held at the Savannah Suites, July 20, 2017, to honour a fine poet.
The July Reading Session featured the multi genre writer, literary critics and legal practitioner, Ahmed Maiwada. His most recent poetry collection, ‘We’re Fish’ was read in grandstyle.
Barrister Ahmed Maiwada is also the author of Saint of a woman, Musdoki, Eye Rhymes, Fossils’. Reading session attracted personalities from different facets as the hall was filled to the brim.
The highlight of the event was special performances of the excerpts of the featured book, ‘We’re Fish’, supported by the Arojah Concept and the ushering in the Guest Poet by a former Chairman of ANA Abuja, Dr. Seyi Adigun. The multi genre writer chronicled Ahmed’s literary journey and his developmental support as a writer.
Other entertaining perfomances, short stories and open mic readings by members thronged the well attended event to a good end.
Stepping up the stage, Ahmed Maiwada, ensured he gave vivid picture of the theme, ‘We’re Fish’ with a better understanding of the philosophy behind the collection which has been rated by many as one of his best so far.
In attendance were top, peaceful and amiable personalities both from ANA National and State level, Mallam Denja Abdullahi, National President of the association; Barrister Isaac Ogezi, National Legal Adviser; CP Emmanuel Ojukwu rtd., immediate past Chairman, ANA Abuja, who was the Special Guest of Honour and the award winning children author and former vice chairman, ANA Abuja, Mrs. Teresa Oyibo Ameh, the initiator of Aunty Talatu.
Others were Dame Joan Oji, former Secretary and later Vice Chairman of ANA Abuja chapter; Elder Patrick Oguenjiofor and Mrs. Chinyere Obi-Obasi amongst many others.
The media was not left out, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Voice of Nigeria (VON), Radio Nigeria, Blue Print Newspaper and starsandstylesng.blogspot.com.ng were also in attendance.
Mr. Benjamine Ubiri, Chairman, ANA Abuja who also anchored the session thanked Guests for making event memorable and encouraged them to attend subsequent exciting editions.
