Born on November 1, 1961, in the South-Ibie Kingdom, Chief Ekhalefo hails from the esteemed family of Chief Alhaji D.A. Ekhalefo, Chief Daudu-Kesaraki, and Chief Hajia Unela D.A. Ekhalefo, the Emaregholu of Iyakpi. He inherited a legacy of community service and progressive leadership.

His education began at Ekhavbele Primary School, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate. He later pursued advanced studies at the National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism in Abuja, specializing in Mass Communication. Ekhalefo further enhanced his academic credentials at the University of Jos, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi, and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), obtaining degrees in Entrepreneurship and Business Management, as well as postgraduate diplomas in Management and Education, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Ekhalefo began his public service career in 1981 with the Bauchi State Government as a Confidential Secretary, later becoming a verbatim reporter at the Bauchi State House of Assembly. His career advanced significantly in 1993 when he transferred to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ultimately rising to the position of Senior Deputy Registrar. In 2021, he was appointed Registrar of Edo State University, Uzairue, further solidifying his reputation as a highly respected university administrator.

In addition to his professional achievements, Chief Ekhalefo has a rich history of community engagement. He has served as Chairman of the Etsako Progressive Union in Bauchi, Resident Community Leader of the Edo community, and President-General of the Non-Indigenous Association of Bauchi State. His titles, including Seriki Kudu Sabo Kaura (Ogie Seriki Edo) and Chairman of Resident Communities and Toban Chiefs, reflect his commitment to promoting unity and cultural harmony.

Ekhalefo is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of Professional University Administrators (ANUPA) and the Board of Trustees (BOT) of NOUN’s National Alumni Association. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Administration (FCIPAN), and his participation in national and international conferences underscores his dedication to continuous professional development.

Happily married with children, Chief Alhaji Habib Idris Ekhalefo exemplifies a commitment to education, leadership, and public service. His inspiring contributions continue to leave a lasting impact on the communities he serves.
