THE GIRL CHILD AND LEADERSHIP TRAITS: HELPLINE FOUNDATION GROOMS YOUNG GIRLS

Women in leadership position starts from good parenting, having good conducts and paying attention to education. This is to attain an enviable feat like the likes of Dr. Ngozi  Iweala, the World Trade Director General, Ambassador Amina Mohammed, the current Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and amongst others.

In line with the International day for the Girl child, the Helpline Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Jumai Ahmadu has given hope to young female children to  enable  aspire to fly high in life and to become positive change agents as well as being a girl that will reciprocate hope to the society.

The Voice of the Girl Parliament (VoGP) is a platform that helps build soft life skills that are necessary for the girl child to thrive in the 21st Century. Therefore, as part of the activities to mark this year’s International Day for the Girl Child, Helpline Foundation has put together the following activities for members of the Voice of the Girls Parliament.

In her speech, the Founder encouraged the young girls to stay focused in becoming the world leaders they have aspired to be since the society is in dire need of responsible female leaders, in whose hands we can rekindle our hopes for a better society.

The Girls were actively involved in various exercises and engaged in empowerment trainings; everything done was to inspire them towards greatness by having the confidence to attain leadership level even as undergraduates.

Parents who came around to watch how their female children were engaged expressed delight in exposing their female children to leadership training.

The exercise will hold for three weeks, while it commenced yesterday Saturday 25th September  through to Saturday 2nd October 2021, and to finally end Saturday 9th October, 2021 at the Diplomats Park, Benue Crescent, off Sokoti Street, behind Shopping Centre, Area 1, Abuja.

Amongst the activities are mentorship session on career opportunities in STEM Education, Hands-on training on making flower walls for events, video interviews on growing up as a Girl Child in Nigeria and what you want for a better future, mentorship session on becoming a Young/Global 

Leader, Bag Making Training, Election Campaign and Manifestos for electoral positions in the Girls Parliament, etc.

The event is to commemorate with the October 11, 2021 International Day for the Girl Child, as the grand finale holds at the Cyprian Ekwensi Hall, Social Development Secretariat, Area 10, Garki by 9:00am, activities for that day will commence with the inauguration of the new principal officers of the Voice of the Girls Parliament, while the 1st Parliamentary Seating will take place, there would be presentation of gifts to outgoing principal officers and other events.

The Coordinator, Mrs. Funmi Ajare in her remarks encouraged parents with Girls between the ages of 11 and 18 to join the Voice of the Girls Parliament, a project under the Help Line Foundation.
