“The World needs strong women, women who will lift and build others, who will love and be loved, women who live bravery, both tender and fierce, women of indomitable will.”

This quote by Amy Tenny, an attorney and yoga enthusiast depicts the beautiful life of a rare gem, a mother and a wife, a mentor, and a friend. An amazon of most desirable specimens. A woman of substance and great virtue. A beautiful mind.

Every 29th November people tutored by an amazon come in one voice to celebrate the birthday of a living Legend, a great mother, an astute administrator and first female Rector of the great Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.

Just that statement over 2 decades ago, “never you cut corners as you grow in life” created an endearing personality of me.

Some of the virtues seen today were instilled in me by her lifestyle. She inspired me at early stage of my life to understand why my father told me to make sure I go to school. That spurred me to acquire the highest Degree on earth.

I have had many reasons to cut corners in life, things have happened that would have made me use my pen to cut corners but her voice will not fade away from my memory. It becomes like a magnet with the duty to checkmate me.

There is a saying, “what you sow you reap” this adage does not imply mother to child, but from a mentor to a mentee, indeed what a great woman sowed in my life is being reaped by younger generation. An Amazon groomed another Amazon and the groomed Amazon is grooming younger Amazons.

A living Legend, Dr.(Mrs.) P. O. Idogho is the Grandmother of Timothy of our time who stood for everyone by her strength of character and sound culture. She stood strong to build and still building leaders. I am one of them.

She is an epitome of beauty to generations. My dear brother and Comrade, Odia Robert Ogedegbe has described her as a honour to womanhood, a woman who stood firmly and supportively with and to her respected husband, High Chief (Sir) Dr. Nelson O. Idogho ‘of blessed memory’, with whom they were able to build a firm and consolidated empire.

He further present her Godliness that was better brought to bare as the Rector of Auchi Polytechnic for eight (8) consecutive years; A period which catapulted the institution to becoming the best Polytechnic in sub- Saharan African as published by webmetrics for eight (8) consecutive years.

He went a step further to talk about an Amazon of our time who is very detribalized, meek, humane, intelligent, exposed and very vast who was able to shower love, patience, motherly heart and Godly mindedness in the handling of critical issues, wrote her name in the sands of time as far as Auchi Polytechnic is concerned which gave her the title of ‘the woman with the touch of GOLD’.

Ogedegbe did not stop as he says, “There is absolutely no gainsaying the fact that this Amazon is still putting smiles in the faces of thousands, amidst all odds and I say, Oh, yes, she is still doing good and humanity will remember her for good.

She has been described by many as indeed a Justice of Peace (JP), a mother with quintessential ability and capabilities, a trailblazer, pathfinder, an epitome of motherhood, a home builder, manager, counsellor, praying machine and a real virtuous woman.

Today, Mommy, as I call her, may this day mark the beginning of new pleasant things in your life, to be able to make further positive impacts in the lives of people through your Godly character and your career.

I join my dear brother and others to say that may your physical and mental health as well as your strength continue to grow in geometric proportion as you age arithmetically to the greater glory of God.

And may unlimited joy and glorious laughter never cease from your life and that of your entire household.

Happy Birthday Mother and remain blessed.
